February is the month to celebrate all the people we love, especially on Valentine’s Day. What better way to express your feelings than with a gift of chocolate and red wine? At the winery, we have put together some really cute gift crates to make giving this classic pairing easy for you. These handcrafted wooden boxes include a bottle of the red wine of your choice, two Eagle Haven glasses and a half pound of assorted milk and dark chocolates….all for just $30 (a $45 retail value). We will have a very limited supply of these fun packages available the weekend of February 11 and 12, so hurry in to get yours while we’ve got them!

During this chocolate-coated season, Darlena J’s Gourmet Nuts is also producing a special, limited offering. The talented roaster has taken her nicely spiced pecans and dunked them in a coating of Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory’s delectable milk chocolate. The combination of flavors is both delicious and highly addictive! Come in and sample this special treat on February 11 and 12. We think you might want to add a bag to your Valentine’s gift box, or perhaps take some home for yourself. At just $7 this is the kind of indulgence many of us can afford!

February Wine of the Month:

Pinot Noir

A chilly day early in the new year found our bottling crew hard at work. They were making sure we would have plenty of the 2008 Pinot Noir ready for our cellar and tasting room. After all their hard work, of course we have to feature our fabulous new release of Pinot Noir this month. The grapes for this wine are 100% Skagit County grown; it certainly doesn’t get much more local than that! This shining star of Pinot Noir is full of delicious flavors of berries and cherries making it the perfect partner for chocolate. Yet this versatile red wine also pairs well with many other delicious foods, from salmon or roast chicken, to cheese fondue or Nancy’s beef recipe featured in this newsletter. Regular price: $20. Wine of the month price: $17, Club member price: $15!

 

Sangiovese Update

Our devoted crew will be hard at work again this month getting the 2009 Sangiovese into bottles. What would we do without such a competent team helping us on the bottling line? We love our crew and we love this vintage of Sangiovese! It promises to please a variety of  palates with a complexity and brightness that only this grape variety can offer. As the classic wine of Italy, it will certainly complement a variety of pizzas, pastas, panninis and risottos. We can’t wait for our Sangiovese to be released! Stay tuned for updates.

Own a piece of Eagle Haven History

At our holiday open house, we unveiled a special new offering: a talented woodworker has handcrafted a limited number of gorgeous candle holders from the staves of one of our retired French oak barrels. At just $25, these are a wonderfully affordable keepsake that makes a lovely addition to any wine-lover’s décor. Half of the 20 we produced sold the first day, so if you would like one for yourself, it might be best to act quickly!

Orchard Pavilion

Our beautiful Orchard Pavilion is open for business. This 60 x 40 foot facility features 13" diameter cedar timber poles supporting coverage for all types of events. The structure is open to the beauty of the surrounding orchards so you feel like you are amoung the trees, yet protected from the weather.
